World History on the German Stage

Summer: May 18 - June 2

Take your studies abroad and study culture, history and the media landscape of Berlin and Leipzig, Germany! Earn three credits as you explore two cities with rich history and culture, filled with old and modern traditions and trends. You will develop a broader context for the remembrance of Imperial Germany, Nazi Germany and the division of Germany in the Cold War. Led by Dr. Kristin Kopp, you will gain firsthand insight with visits to historical and cultural sites, including:

  • Berlin, capital of the Federal Republic of Germany
  • Leipzig, a media and arts hub
  • Dresden, a baroque city
  • Concentration camp memorial in Buchenwald

Study Abroad in Sicily

Summer May 19 – June 1, May 19 – June 21

Study abroad over the summer in Sicily over 2-5 weeks. “Sicily: Crossroads in the Mediterranean” is a two week tour course across Sicily! There is an additional 3 week language course in Italian absolute beginner to advanced. There is class in the morning, free time and/or cultural activities (films, gestuality, Sicilian myths, Italian pop & rap music, visit to Sicilian ceramic laboratory, arancini cooking class, hike to Castelmola...). Peacebuilding and Peacemaking in the Modern Caribbean

Summer 2025 ; Application Deadline: February 15, 2025

Discover the beautiful beaches and cultural traditions of Jamaica as you examine peacebuilding and peacemaking in the modern Caribbean. Explore these peace initiatives in the context of the historical and cultural development of the region from pre-colonial times to the present. This weeklong program led by Dr. Daive Dunkley showcases Jamaica’s evolution from indigenous societies to plantation society to independent nation-state, tracing the history of race, class, gender relations, colonialism and imperialism to explore how these have shaped the prospects for peace in Caribbean communities.

Communication and Culture in Tuscany

Summer 2024 =; Application Deadline: February 15, 2024

If you are ready to learn all about Italian culture and communication (and eat the best food of your life!), embark on this program in Tuscany. Spend four weeks in Siena, a city known for its medieval architecture, amazing food and world-famous Il Palio horse race. Earn six credits through the Department of Communication with Dr. Sydney Yueh this summer. You will study how culture and communication theories are enacted all around you while visiting local businesses, museums and churches. This program facilitates your understanding of cross-cultural communication theories and experiences through traditional class meetings, museum tours and visits to local producers of cheese, olive oil, wine and coffee in several classic hill towns. Set among the gorgeous hills of Tuscany, this program will encourage you to take full advantage of opportunities for conversation, sightseeing, food and connection. This is the perfect program for students interested in the experiencing the hands-on application of communication while exploring Italy.

Open to all majors! Complete a study abroad over Winter Break 2024-2025 in Frankfurt, Germany and Amsterdam, Netherlands with the Trulaske College of Business! Earn three credits for Management 3901. The course will focus on international business and management in the European Union. Students will spend New Years Eve in Frankfurt, see the beautiful canals of Amsterdam, and go on seven corporate site visits. Students must attend an info session in 209 Cornell Hall on Tuesdays at 4:00-4:45, Wednesdays at 1:00-1:45, or Thursdays at 11:00-11:45.

Study Abroad Sydney and Melbourne, Australia

The course will focus on international business and management in Australia and the Pacific Basin. Students will spend New Years Eve in Sydney, visits the Blue Mountains, spend winter break in Australia’s summer, and go on seven corporate site visits. Intern Abroad in Dublin or London

Summer 2025 ; Application Priority Deadline December 5, 2024

Complete an internship abroad this summer in Dublin or London with the Trulaske College of Business summer 2025! Earn three credits for Management 4940 or Business Administration 4500. Interns will gain real world work experience for 20-30 hours a week for companies and corporations related to finance, hospitality management, marketing, non-profits, sales, accounting, and more! Open to all majors. Students must attend an info session in 209 Cornell Hall on Tuesdays at 4:00-4:45, Wednesdays at 1:00-1:45, or Thursdays at 11:00-11:45.

Study Abroad + Intern Abroad in Prague 

May 17 - June 14, 2025 ; Application due February 21, 2025

Study abroad and complete an internship this summer Prague May 17 - June 14, 2025! Students will earn three credits in marketing or management in the European Union, and three credits for a marketing research internship. For the internship, students will work in teams to evaluate a company’s market and make recommendations on how the company can expand abroad. This program counts for six of the twelve credit hours required for the Global Business Certificate. Open to all majors. Students must attend an info session.

Internship in Singapore and Indonesia

Application Deadline – December 6, 2024

Learn about marketing research with special focus on Singapore and Indonesia, while visiting international companies and guest lecturers. Students will complete Business Administration 4500 or Marketing 4940 during the second 8 weeks of the spring semester, and then travel to Singapore and Indonesia May 19-31, 2025. Students must attend an info session in 209 Cornell Hall on Tuesdays at 4:00-4:45, Wednesdays at 1:00-1:45, or Thursdays at 11:00-11:45.

Study Abroad in Bergamo, Italy

Application Deadline – April 8, 2025

Study abroad this summer in Bergamo, Italy with the Trulaske College of Business May 17 – June 14, 2025! Earn six credit hours focused on international finance, marketing, and management. Students will attend classes three days a week and have free weekends to explore Italy and Europe. Students will attend classes with MU students, but also Italian students from the University of Bergamo which allows cross-cultural connections. Bergamo is a beautiful city, about an hour away from Milan and near the Italian alps. Open to all majors. Students must attend an info session in 209 Cornell Hall on Tuesdays at 4:00-4:45, Wednesdays at 1:00-1:45, or Thursdays at 11:00-11:45.
